Thinking about college?

Quite often, a prospective college student certainly has the grades to get into a good university, but money can be a major obstacle.

Hey, college is expensive and it's getting harder and harder for parents to afford their kids to school what with rising tuition costs, tax burdens that perpetually expand, increasing costs of living and wages that barely even keep up with inflation. Sure, a lot of students figure they'll work for a few years, save their money and head to college.

Sometimes that plan works but I've seen it fail more times than I can count. Frankly, it's usually best to head to college at a relatively young age. For many people, that means taking out some student loans. A good site on the Internet to start that search is NextStudent.

Think of that site as a resource -- a good way to find out which loans are available and how to apply for them. For example, the site has a handy search engine through which people can find scads of information about loans, how to apply for them, the criteria applicants must meet, etc.

The site also offers a newsletter that covers all manner of topics of interest to advice on careers that are in demand to what part-time jobs are convenient for students.

There's a lot of information out there on the Internet. Thank goodness specialized sites such as NextStudent are out there to help make it manageable.
