Since starting this blog in July, a lot of people have suggested that I should get my own Web host instead of relying on the fine folks at Blogspot."You'll love it, The Hawg," they've said. "All serious bloggers get their own website hosting company, you know?"
That all sounds great. However, I don't know the first thing about choosing a web host and there are a lot of them running loose out there. Which one would be the best for me? Which ones are total rip-offs that will make me furious? Which ones won't vanish in the night, taking my blog with them?
I have no idea. Raise your hand if you're in the same boat. Come on, now. Don't be shy.
Wouldn't it be great to find a site that had independent reviews of various website hosting companies? How about a site that would pick the best companies to suit your needs -- the best hosts for businesses, the hosts that cater to people on a budget, the most reliable hosts, etc.?
Fortunately, you've got a great site that acts as a guide through the often confusing world of web hosting companies -- Web Hosting Geeks.
In addition to reviewing and ranking the scads of website hosting companies out there, the site even has a handy blog which is updated with advice frequently. I particularly appreciated the "about web hosting" category where I found a great article on how to avoid common web hosting traps.
One of the great things about the Internet is that novices can almost always find resources to help them with a complex problem or project. Web Hosting Geeks is one of those handy and highly specialized resources out there that I appreciate.
