Yes, the world has changed a lot since I was a kid growing up in the 1970s.
Here in my town of Benton, Ark., it was common back then for folks to leave their doors unlocked. Heck, people used to leave their keys hanging in the ignitions of their cars so as to get that convenient “fast start.”
People wouldn’t live like that anymore. We’ve even got unsavory elements roaming the streets of my beloved Benton and there was a break-in reported last week in my neighborhood (nice area, too).
So we’ve been doing some research on alarms. Why? It all goes back to what a police officer told me once – criminals go after the easiest targets.
That makes a lot of sense. If a sneaky felon has the choice between breaking into a home with an alarm and busting into one without one, which one do you think he’ll try? Furthermore, if he does break into the home with an alarm, you’d better believe he’ll scamper as soon as lights start flashing and sirens go off all over the place.
Of course, an important consideration for most people is how much an alarm system costs. You can find out some of that right now by pointing your browser to Home Alarm Expert and pricing some ADT packages.
Isn’t the ability to research such items day or night on the Internet a great thing?
