Grandma's Silver

Written by Fermin Washington

I had a hard time staying focused at work when I read the local on-line newspaper on my lunch break. We live in a small college town where there is little crime. There was a report on a string of home robberies that had occurred that morning. The homes hit were only about two miles from my house. All I could think about was all of my grandmother’s silver that I had inherited being lost forever. I always loved her tea set as a child and when she passed away, she passed it down to me. It is one of the only things that I have to remember her by because there are so many grandchildren in our family. I watched the clock all day. After the clock ticked five, I rushed home. Luckily, everything in the house was in pristine condition and nothing had gotten stolen. I decided that I was going to call HOME SECURITY the thought of losing things so important to me and not knowing what was going on at my house during the day is just to anxiety-provoking.
