I well remember when Elvis died at the age of 42 way on back in 1977. If Elvis was alive today, he'd be 74-years-old and that, for some reason, is a staggering fact.
I almost let Elvis' birthday slip by as I've been very busy with work lately. However, I couldn't let the day slip past without acknowledging one of the finest entertainers in this great nation's history. So I've attached a YouTube video taken from Elvis' 1968 Comeback Special.
Yes, that's the way I prefer to remember Elvis -- vibrant, looking almost like a thug and belting out a rock n' roll classic. Enjoy the video!

Hail to the King!
Awhile back, I remember watching a short clip of Elvis singing and thinking, "Elvis sure was a bad ass."
The King of Rock and Roll!
I've never been a huge Elvis fan, but I remember very clearly what I was doing the day he died, and how stunned I felt.
Great clip. That's the way I like to remember him, too.

I just read a book by Charlaine Harris which is about vampires. It was the first book in a series of nine. The HBO series "True Blood" is based on her vampire series. Anyway, in the book, one of the characters is Elvis and he's a vampire. He wears this t-shirt that says "I've been to Graceland." It's a hoot!
Awesome! Thanks, Hawg. I love the Elvis & Martina McBride video of Blue Christmas. If you haven't seen it I would suggest you check it out. the dubbing is incredible. It's like Martina was really there back in '68 (even her hair style and dress). Here's the link.

That is a fantastic video -- you are right Elvis was looking vibrant and belting out classic rock'n'roll. I wrote a page about Elvis Presley Christmas Duets, this year's new album. Now you have me wanting to write one about Jailhouse Rock!
